Automobiles in German City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were alerted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered many other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report initial examinations indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.

City officials stated they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for tips.

A high-ranking political figure said the attack rendered him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
